The Camden Cycle Challenge

Just south of Kings Cross & St Pancras Station and just off Judd Street is Cromer Street, a nice quiet back street for cycling to the stations

Clearly Camdem Council thought it was perhaps a little too quiet and unchallenging for today's go getter City whizz kids so they decided to "improve it"

First to go in was the suspension test - there is little opportunity in London to enjoy the benefits of a full suspension bike so this little piece of road allows you to utlilise your suspension to the full and check out that it works properly before hitting the London potholes.




Its clear though that the Health and Safety bods were not happy.  What if a cyclist chickens out,  What if they approach it in the dark and don't see it until the last minute?



But fear not our intepid councillors of Camdem Council have it covered.  Note the beautifully designed bale out that, while not giving you the full on thrill of the suspension tester, does leave you  with the challenge of an exciting slalom through the trees and bollards.  Novices stay right where the slalom blends smoothly back into the road or for the more adventurous , stay left where you get the chance to pull a daring jump off the kerb.

And, in the true tradition of Council money making note the considerate inclusion of a camera so you can show your grandchildren the photos* as they marvel at your tales of the day you rode Cromer Street.
